The American Thoracic Society is committed to increasing public awareness of advances in lung, critical care and sleep medicine, as well as the public policy issues that affect people with respiratory or critical care diseases and that contribute to a healthier environment for all of us.

The ATS supports the efforts of journalists to report on the latest findings in the fields of lung, critical care and sleep medicine and to educate their audiences about ways to improve their health. The Society's leaders are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of respiratory disease and are often sought out by the media to provide perspective on health stories ranging from asthma or COPD to tobacco cessation or clean air.
