SRN Journal Club: Gray Matter Hypertrophy and Thickening with Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Middle-aged and Older Adults

The ATS SRN Journal Club, a live discussion, is usually conducted on a web based platform and is approximately an hour long. However, this year, we are trying a new format, i.e., a podcast (20-25 minutes), where the author presents their work in the first few minutes and is followed by a discussion between the author(s), moderator and an expert in the field.

This podcast is a discussion of a recently published paper in the AJRCCM entitled " Gray Matter Hypertrophy and Thickening with Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Middle-aged and Older Adults."

Dr. Rob Stansbury, co-chair of the ATS SRN Journal Club Committee, interviews lead author Andree-Ann Baril and co-author Dr. Nadia Gosselin. Dr. Gosselin is director of clinical training in neuropsychology at the University of Montreal and director of the University's Center for Advanced Research in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Stansbury is joined in the podcast by Dr. Andrew Varga who is a sleep physician and neuroscientist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai with clinical interests in all areas of sleep medicine including sleep in neurodegenerative diseases and generalized cognitive deficits as a function of fragmented sleep. The discussion focuses on intrinsic markers of obstructive sleep apnea severity and measures of cerebral gray matter structure.
