Maria Elena Vega-Sanchez, MD, is a pulmonologist at Temple Lung Center and associate professor of thoracic medicine and surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Dr. Vega is also the School of Medicine’s program director of pulmonary and critical care fellowship. She specializes in obstructive sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and serves on the ATS education committee. At the 2020 ATS International Virtual Conference, she gave a lecture for the Core Curriculum update on “Cardiovascular and Neurocognitive Consequences of Untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea.” In 2022, she was honored among AL Dia’s Top Doctors for her impact in representing excellence and diversity in the medical profession. Dr. Vega completed her residency in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, where she also completed both a pulmonary and critical care, and sleep medicine fellowship.
